How it started
McDonald Group Landscaping Co. began during the COVID-19 pandemic when Peyton McDonald saw an opportunity to start something of his own. What started as simple leaf raking around his neighborhood quickly grew into a full landscaping business thanks to his hard work and dedication.
Now a senior at Cox High School, Peyton has built McDonald Group Landscaping Co. into a company that’s completed over 500 jobs across Virginia Beach. The business offers a range of services, including mulch installation, lawn mowing, pressure washing, bush trimming, and weeding.
In addition to running daily operations, Peyton manages clients, schedules, and a team of local students—creating opportunities for his peers while keeping both residential and commercial properties looking their best.

Peyton McDonald: Founder and Senior at Cox High School, Peyton is the force behind McDonald Group Landscaping Co. His vision and leadership have been instrumental in the company’s growth and success. In addition to his work with McDonald Group Landscaping, Peyton also runs Flyover Drone Services, providing high-quality aerial footage for various clients.
Trey McDonald: As an undergraduate scholar, Trey brings technical knowledge to the team. Trey is a great leader, motivating and guiding the team with his strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. His commitment to the business and his ability to inspire others have been key factors in the company’s ongoing success.
